Entity and relation extraction with rule-guided dictionary as domain knowledge

Frontiers of Engineering Management   Pages 610-622 doi: 10.1007/s42524-022-0226-0

Abstract: Entity and relation extraction is an indispensable part of domain knowledge graph construction, which can serve relevant knowledge needs in a specific domain, such as providing support for product research, sales, risk control, and domain hotspot analysis. The existing entity and relation extraction methods that depend on pretrained models have shown promising performance on open datasets. However, the performance of these methods degrades when they face domain-specific datasets. Entity extraction models treat characters as basic semantic units while ignoring known character dependency in specific domains. Relation extraction is based on the hypothesis that the relations hidden in sentences are unified, thereby neglecting that relations may be diverse in different entity tuples. To address the problems above, this paper first introduced prior knowledge composed of domain dictionaries to enhance characters’ dependence. Second, domain rules were built to eliminate noise in entity relations and promote potential entity relation extraction. Finally, experiments were designed to verify the effectiveness of our proposed methods. Experimental results on two domains, including laser industry and unmanned ship, showed the superiority of our methods. The F1 value on laser industry entity, unmanned ship entity, laser industry relation, and unmanned ship relation datasets is improved by +1%, +6%, +2%, and +1%, respectively. In addition, the extraction accuracy of entity relation triplet reaches 83% and 76% on laser industry entity pair and unmanned ship entity pair datasets, respectively.

Study on the NOx release rule along the boiler during pulverized coal combustion

JIN Jing, ZHANG Zhongxiao, LI Ruiyang

Frontiers in Energy 2007, Volume 1, Issue 1,   Pages 91-95 doi: 10.1007/s11708-007-0009-7

Abstract: Numerical simulation and experimental study on NO release along the boiler during pulverized coal combustion have been conducted. With the increase of temperature the NO emission increased and the peak value of NO release moved forward. But when the temperature increased to a certain degree, NO emission began to reduce. NO emission increased with the increase of nitrogen content of coal. The peak value of NO release moved backwards with the increase of coal rank. NO emission increased obviously with the increase of stoichiometric ratio. There existed a critical average diameter of the pulverized coal (). If "d, NO emission reduced with the decrease of pulverized coal size. If >, NO emission reduced with the increase of the pulverized coal size. The results showed that the simulation results are in agreement with the experimental results for concentration distribution of NO along the axis of the furnace.

A modified harmony search algorithm and its applications in weighted fuzzy production rule extraction Research Article

Shaoqiang YE, Kaiqing ZHOU, Azlan Mohd ZAIN, Fangling WANG, Yusliza YUSOFF

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2023, Volume 24, Issue 11,   Pages 1574-1590 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2200334

Abstract: Harmony search (HS) is a form of stochastic meta-heuristic inspired by the improvisation process of musicians. In this study, a modified HS with a hybrid cuckoo search (CS) operator, HS-CS, is proposed to enhance global search ability while avoiding falling into local optima. First, the randomness of the HS pitch disturbance adjusting method is analyzed to generate an adaptive inertia weight according to the quality of solutions in the harmony memory and to reconstruct the fine-tuning bandwidth optimization. This is to improve the efficiency and accuracy of HS algorithm optimization. Second, the CS operator is introduced to expand the scope of the solution space and improve the density of the population, which can quickly jump out of the local optimum in the randomly generated harmony and update stage. Finally, a dynamic parameter adjustment mechanism is set to improve the efficiency of optimization. Three theorems are proved to reveal HS-CS as a meta-heuristic algorithm. In addition, 12 benchmark functions are selected for the optimization solution to verify the performance of HS-CS. The analysis shows that HS-CS is significantly better than other algorithms in optimizing high-dimensional problems with strong robustness, high convergence speed, and high convergence accuracy. For further verification, HS-CS is used to optimize the back propagation neural network (BPNN) to extract weighted fuzzy production rules. Simulation results show that the BPNN optimized by HS-CS can obtain higher classification accuracy of weighted fuzzy production rules. Therefore, the proposed HS-CS is proved to be effective.

Current Status and Future Development of Integrated Transportation Technology in China

He Hongwen , Sun Fengchun , Li Menglin

Strategic Study of CAE 2023, Volume 25, Issue 6,   Pages 202-211 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2023.06.012

Abstract:

In-depth exploration of the goals and common challenges in the development of integrated transportation technology is crucial for promoting the continuous progress of integrated transportation in China. This study reviews the current state of transportation engineering and technology in China from five dimensions: road, rail, water, aviation, and urban-integrated transportations. The future trends of integrated transportation engineering and technology in China are summarized, characterized by networking of transportation systems, shared mobility, intelligent traffic control, coordinated transportation operation, and threedimensional transportation layout. The study suggests that comprehensive transportation engineering and technology breakthroughs can be achieved through the construction of an integrated transportation system, establishment of a digital infrastructure platform for transportation, development of comprehensive transportation command and control centers, and implementation of related services. The following strategic measures are recommended: constructing a new integrated transportation system, fostering new models of transportation and mobility, establishing an integrated transportation network, building multi-modal transportation hubs, and implementing major projects in intelligent and connected three-dimensional transportation. These initiatives will effectively drive the high-quality development of integrated transportation in China.

A Decision-making Method Based on Fuzzy Sets and Rough Sets Theory

Luo Dang

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 12,   Pages 32-36

Abstract:

In this paper, a combined decision-making model is presented for dealing with uncertain and imprecise problems, based on the difference between fuzzy sets and rough sets theories. The model is firstly to classify the uncertain examples given using fuzzy clustering analysis, to make a decision table specified, and then to simplify the decision table by means of the rough sets theory. It gives all possible minimal decision algorithms associated with the decision table. These decision algorithms have found application in larger field.
